What do contractions feel like?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🧐⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
First off, everyone is different and experiences labor differently. For me, my contractions felt like a burning sensation in my lower back running down my leg. For others, it is similar to menstrual cramps, gas pain, or back pain. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
😣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The closer you get to holding your baby, the more intense these contractions get. You'll feel the muscles around your uterus tighten to push your baby down and into position. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
☺️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What did contractions feel like to you?
🥰What is your absolute most favorite thing about being a parent?
This is a reminder to take in those sweet baby snuggles because soon you will have a toddler who only likes you when you have food. 😭
When I first found out I was pregnant, I was in complete shock! My husband and I were absolutely not planning on growing our family at the time. He had just lost his job and we were moving out of state in a week to move in with his parents. -
🤰
After finally coming to terms with the fact I was pregnant, I scheduled to see an OBGYN at 13 weeks pregnant. She was a nice doctor from Louisiana like me, but I didn't feel connected to her. Our visits lasted only about 10 minutes after I would wait an hour in her waiting room. I accepted this as normal at first but then something in me began to panic. -
🙅‍♀️
At my 34 week appointment, I began to share with her about the amazing birth plan I had assembled. It had included everything that I wanted to get out of my birth experience. Her response was cold and disinterested. I left that appointment feeling scared of what my birth may become. I quickly called my doula and told her what had happened. -
🙌
With her help I was able to find a care provider that suited the type of birth experience I was looking for. I decided to have a home birth, which before this point I thought was absolutely insane. -
☕️
In those last weeks of pregnancy, my midwife would come over to my house for appointments and we would spend 2 hours just talking and drinking coffee/tea. She quickly became someone I trusted. -
🤱
At 41+6 weeks pregnant, I gave birth to my son at home. I had the perfect birth experience and I wouldn't change a single thing. I tell you this because it's scary making the decision to switch care providers late in pregnancy, but it's worth it. You're worth it! You deserve the best possible care that suits your needs.
